Shelby County A to Z celebrates the largest county in Tennessee using colorful photography and illustrations. The book walks through the alphabet and highlights more than 40 significant locations, landmarks and individuals in an engaging format for early readers.
Since 2022, The Shelby County Youth and Education Nonprofit Committee worked with literacy experts and community leaders to develop a book that not only aids in learning but also enriches a child’s understanding of their hometown in a way that looks like and feels like their daily lives.
We're thrilled by the interest in our picture book, Shelby County A to Z. While we would love to get a book for every person who would like one, we are prioritizing getting copies to MSCS kindergartens and our early literacy partners. We have the book online for free and various supplemental educator resources like flashcards, anchor charts, and coloring sheets.
If you would like a copy, click here to complete the form. Should we do a subsequent print run, we will see if we can fulfill these requests.
The first print run of Shelby County A to Z was specifically for all kindergarten students in Shelby County to receive a free copy. With subsequent print runs we will develop a plan of distribution for those who wish to purchase. Please sign up for updates so you'll be the first to know!
